Rudis

Gain enhanced leaf and root health for greening and physiological yield effects. Rudis (active substance: prothioconazole) is specifically developed for vegetable crops such as brassicas, carrots, leeks and parsnips, with a kinder SC formulation and triazolinthione (tzt) technology. Use in a programme with Nativo 75WG to achieve even better Class 1 yields and quality.

Why use Rudis

Rudis is proven to deliver cleaner crops. Independent trials conducted in The Netherlands showed Rudis to be the best performer against ring spot. In a severe test on cabbage it reduced infection on leaves to 24 per cent, compared with 44 per cent from the next closest product, and 86 per cent in the untreated. More importantly it was the only product to keep the cabbage heads completely disease-free.

Similarly, a UK leek trial independently assessed for marketable yield by the Stockbridge Technology Centre showed substantial gains from using Rudis, particularly in combination with Nativo 75WG (trifloxystrobin and tebuconazole). Against a baseline trimmed yield from the untreated of 57 t/ha, the Rudis programme showed a 12 per cent improvement, comparable to a range of strobilurin based products. By far the best result was achieved with programmes combining two applications of Rudis with two of Nativo 75WG, which boosted marketable yield by 22 per cent.

Note on Nativo 75WG: this product is no longer authorised for leeks, but work is ongoing to have it re-instated. Always check the CRD website for the latest product information.

Main advantages

  • Combines exceptional sustained protection and curative activity
  • Broad-spectrum disease control
  • Unique greening and physiological yield effects in the same league as strobilurins
  • Strongest broad spectrum DMI
  • Best QoI alternation partner
  • Kinder dedicated formulation for vegetable crops

Getting the best from Rudis

To maximise the quality-enhancing boost of tzt technology and disease control, always use Rudis at the full rate. For control of leek rust in a curative situation or if the crop is very waxy, mixing with an approved sticker/wetter adjuvant may enhance the activity of Rudis.

Important things to remember

Always use full rates to achieve best control levels and good resistance management practice.

Using Rudis as part of a programme

An effective programme  has three stages:

Clean start: ensure the best start possible with a clean crop. If any disease has already crept in, use a curative product to clean up. Otherwise maximise the clean leaf with strobilurin-based chemistry for protectant activity and greening/physiological benefits.

Build and protect quality: as the crop moves onto the second spray and beyond, supporting plant growth and development is the priority. Alternating chemistry is essential as part of good resistance management practice.

Secure quality: later in the season maintaining quality and yield until harvest needs attention so that marketable yield and profits can be fully realised. Choosing the right products to prolong healthy appearance and react to late season infections is vital.

Remember to follow FRAC guidelines, especially for strobilurins (QoI) based formulations where only up to 50% of the programme may be made up of these.
