Iblon

Trusted broad-spectrum disease control

Iblon® is the brand name for isoflucypram, a unique SDHI active substance that is the only member of the N-cyclopropyl-N-Benzyl-pyrazole-carboxamides sub-group.

This means it has incomplete cross resistance with other members of the SDHI mode of action group. Where the sensitivity of some other SDHIs has declined for example, against net blotch, isoflucypram is unaffected and continues to deliver high-level efficacy.

Iblon® delivers dependable broad-spectrum activity the principal foliar diseases of wheat, barley, oats and other cereals when applied as Plaxium®or Vivalis®. If applied as Vimoy®, it can be applied to wheat and barley crops and needs to be combined with an active substance belonging to a different mode of action group, such as prothioconazole. Whatever your product choice, Iblon® has the flexibility in performance to be used at either the T1 or T2 timing.

  • Trusted broad-spectrum control – iblon® delivers strong efficacy against the main foliar diseases of wheat and useful activity against the stem-based disease complex (when combined with prothioconazole as in Plaxium® and Vivalis®).

  • Yield boosting benefits – iblon® has been shown to support yield accumulation through extended green leaf area retention beyond that of Ascra® Xpro®, even in low disease pressure situations*.

  • Outstanding Leafshield formulation – iblon® is delivered using the outstanding Leafshield formulation – used in Bayer’s Xpro® range of fungicides – to ensure effective performance without compromising crop or equipment safety.

Iblon® is available as Vimoy® (isoflucypram), prothioconazole-based co-packs, such as Vimoy® + Proline® (prothioconazole) for use in wheat and barley and in three-way co-formulations including Plaxium® (fluopyram + isoflucypram + prothioconazole) and two-way co-formulations including Vivalis® (isoflucypram + prothioconazole) for use in all cereals.

For the 2026 season and beyond, Bayer will offer a range of products featuring Iblon® in co-formulation with other active substances for use in cereal crops. These will serve to complement the established products Vimoy® and Plaxium® by extending the range of crop protection products available to growers and ensuring effective resistance management through the inclusion of partners belonging to different mode of action groups.

*Based on trials performed by Bayer and others.

We have tested Iblon® as a straight in the form of Vimoy® mixed with Proline® (prothioconazole) and as a co-formulation in Plaxium® (fluopyram + isoflucypram + prothioconazole). In both instances, it has performed strongly to deliver good overall activity.

Disease control performance

Independent assessments of Iblon®’s disease control performance demonstrate its superior protection compared with other leading fungicides.

Across a combined total of 27 trials spanning three years and at sites across England, Iblon® was found to deliver consistently high-level protection against a range of diseases, regardless of application timing.

Extended greening means higher yield

Vimoy® has been proven to deliver yield benefits irrespective of disease pressure. Through enhanced green-leaf area retention Vimoy supports higher yields by:

  • Increasing chlorophyll production

  • Improves photosynthetic efficiency

  • Delays senescence

  • Mitigates abiotic stress

Research by the University of Reading shows that for every day after flowering green leaf area is retained above 37%, yield increases by 0.15 T/ha. In independent trials performed in 2019, iblon was found to maintain green leaf area at no less than 37% for eight days over the untreated and three days more than crops receiving Ascra® Xpro® at the same spray timing. In this trial, Vimoy + Proline® delivered a yield gain of 0.46 T/ha over Ascra Xpro when applied at the T2 timing (see chart).

Iblon® application guide

Iblon® should be used as part of a wider IPM programme

Bayer strongly encourages growers and agronomists to use Iblon® as part of an IPM strategy. A good disease management programme starts with variety selection and drilling date. Inclement weather in the early season often serves to conspire against growers. Staying on top of disease, particularly Septoria can be challenging. For this reason, it is important to consider Iblon® as part of a suitably constructed disease management programme that incorporates multiple modes of action to avoid over reliance on any one application, product or active substance.

Best practice guidelines limit the application of SDHI-based fungicides to two per crop per season. Vimoy® can be applied at a maximum product dose rate of 1.5 L/ha.
