Ivy-leaved speedwell
Veronica hederifolia
Veronica hederifolia
Importance
Common in winter cereals. Germinates over winter.
1. Cotyledons are large and dull green, closely resembling cleavers but with a point at the tip of the blade rather than a notch.
2. The first true leaves are hairy and toothed, but toothed only in a basel half, unlike field and Buxbaum's speedwell.
3. A prostrate spreading annual with small blue flowers, which dies away in mid-summer.
