High Oleic, Low Linolenic (HOLL) oilseed rape is managed much like conventional varieties, but extra care is needed to prevent contamination and protect oil quality.
HOLL OSR has no unique agronomic requirements compared to conventional OSR. The main focus is on maintaining purity of the HOLL oil profile through careful crop and storage management.
Minimise contamination from non-HOLL OSR.
A 4+ year rotation is recommended.
Use stale seedbed techniques to reduce volunteers.
Clean drills and combines when moving between different OSR types.
Keep HOLL OSR separate from HEAR (High Erucic Acid Rapeseed) OSR crops at all times.
Some weed species naturally contain high levels of linolenic fatty acids or erucic acid.
If contamination cannot be eliminated, harvest affected areas separately and send samples for oil quality testing before mixing with the main crop.
Always segregate HOLL OSR from other OSR types during harvest, storage, and transport.
Store potentially contaminated lots separately until oil quality analysis confirms suitability.
