This year, the Bayer Black-Grass Hub and the DEKALB OSR Specialist Hub will combine on stand 1.18, featuring how the Black-Grass Task Force project is helping UK growers to manage black-grass and demonstrating the latest innovative varieties that cover key technological traits within OSR breeding.
The Black Grass Hub
Cambridgeshire farm manager Paul Drinkwater, is one of two farmers taking part in the Bayer Black-grass Task Force project. The project is aimed to tackle all things black-grass control, including a focus on reducing the black-grass head count, currently measured at 47/m² on Mr Drinkwater's farm. The project is supported with ideas and guidance from John Cussans of NIAB and Philip Wright of Wright Resolutions. Find out first-hand about the progress of the Black-Grass Task Force at our CropTec Knowledge Hub!
Shropshire farmer, Andrew Williamson is one of two farmers taking part in the Black-grass Task Force. On Andrew’s farm black-grass does not present a large problem, however, it remains a threat. As a result, the challenge on this farm is in how to manage the weed so that it does not become a major problem.

OSR Specialist Hub
Regardless of soil type, establishment regime or sowing time, attention to detail in variety choice and sowing practice for the best establishment are the key factors distinguishing growers achieving higher than average OSR yields.
DEKALB will have a leading team of breeders and technical specialists on hand that will be able to discuss more ways to optimise future OSR establishment.
