Essex farm park and crafts village wins prestigious UK-wide education award

Unique farm park and craft village, Barleylands has won a prestigious Bayer Farming & Countryside Education Award in the Inspiring Educator category; the awards celebrate the very best in food and farming education.

Karen Watson collected the award at a lunch in London’s Banking Hall in front of over a hundred guests from the world of agriculture and education. Head Judge, Janet Hickinbottom, National Education Officer at Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) the charity helping to organise the awards said, “The competition this year was extremely fierce but the judges were really impressed with how Karen and the Education Team at Barleylands encourage the children to explore how their choice of food has an impact on their health and on the planet, whilst learning important methods of past, present and future farming, and we were delighted to present Barleylands with the Inspiring Educator Award.”

The Inspiring Educator Award celebrates farms and organisations that inspire new learning experiences which are seen as particularly innovative and effective either on-farm or back in the classroom.
