Why are hoverflies so important for our food system?

As part of our ongoing curiosity in to how to best manage farmland in a way that works with the environment, we invited our good friend Geoff Vowles to visit one of our research farms to survey hoverflies.
Geoff is a retired pathologist, amateur naturalist and talented photographer. Head of Communications and Government Affairs Dr Julian Little worked with Geoff to produce a Hoverfly Guide, sharing the outcome of his visit to our research farm and also some helpful advice on encouraging hoverflies on your farm to get the most out of a sustainable agricultural system.
