Spring Barley Fungicide Programmes in 2016

The problem
Effective control of foliar diseases in barley can have a dramatic effect on yield. Disease can appear suddenly depending on weather conditions and protecting your crop with a product that offers efficacy and persistence is vital.
What to do
 
Bixafen based programmes show their strength with and without disease present.
In 2015 a spring barley trial in Suffolk that burnt off very early due to drought like conditions was assessed for grain size. No disease was recorded in the trial but results showed clearly that bixafen and not just SDHI containing products had a dramatic effect in maintaining a good grain size despite crop stress.
