Crown rust control in Oats

The problem
Potentially reducing yield by 10-20% Crown Rust is an important disease that must be controlled effectively. Coming out of a mild winter we are experiencing favourable conditions for this disease and if things stay damp we could see the disease become widespread.
What to do
Look out for orange-brown pustules scattered over the leaf surface with a similar appearance to brown rust, particularly on low resistance varieties in the west. The disease may spread to the panicle later in the year.
