DK Extrovert

UK Farmers No.1 Choice

DK Extrovert boasts strong agronomics across the board and an outstanding package of disease resistance.

Breeder's View

"DK Extrovert the most widely grown UK variety for 2017 harvest. Over a number of years it has produced very high yields with very high oil content for UK growers. This variety provides pod shatter resistance, rapid autumn and spring development, early maturity and an excellent disease resistance profile."

Key Traits

Double Phoma Resistance

Double Phoma Resistance
RLM7 supported by polygenic resistance for the most durable phoma/stem canker protection and greatest spraying economy and flexibility.

Pod Shatter Resistance

Pod Shatter Resistance
Pioneering genetic resistance to pod shattering for the least seed shedding up to and at harvest and the greatest flexibility in harvest timing.

Vigorous Establishment

Vigorous Establishment
Robust initial root and shoot growth for the most reliable and even establishment.

Ultra Rapid Autumn Development
Standing-out on the Recommended List for strength-in-depth.

Good Light Leaf Spot
High level polygenic resistance for the most reliable light leaf spot protection and greatest spraying economy and flexibility.

Recommendations for Growers

  • Ultra Rapid Autumn growth habit – suitable for drilling up to mid September
  • Seed rate should target an even plant stand of 25-30 plants/m2 in spring
  • Double phoma resistance means phoma leaf spot thresholds for treatment may not be met until later in the autumn if at all.
  • Light Leaf Spot should be monitored but high resistance reduces the risk of severe infections.
  • The rapid autumn growth habit means a PGR may be required in early/mid October on crops early sown or on fertile sites to reduce the risk of over development pre winter.
  • The early and rapid spring growth habit means PGRs should be considered on forward crops and fertile sites or those with a history of lodging along with appropriate nitrogen rates to avoid oversize canopies. Ensure the Green Area Index is accurately determined at the start of spring growth.
  • Pod Shatter Resistance reduces the risk of seed losses approaching and during harvest and will protect the crop where harvest is delayed
