Importance

Widespread mainly on dry, stony light loam soils. Locally problematical.

1. Cotyledons are long and narrow.

2. First true leaf is pale green and much divided. Characteristic smell of carrots when crushed.

3. An upright annual or biennial. Classic umbellifer flower head, like cow parsley. Leaves triangular or oval much divided. Very small pale orange carrot-like root.
